Summer Camps Overview
Camp Mechuwana runs a summer camping program from mid-June through mid-August. We have more than 40 different weekly camps including day camp, trip and travel camps, canoe camps, swim camps, music and theatre camps, special needs camp, creative arts camp, and much, much more. Summer camp brochures are available starting every January.
Important: You must have a physical form signed by your doctor before coming to your week(s) of camp. If you need a form, you can download one here, or you can use another one provided by your school or other organization. You just need to have some sort of proof of a physical signed and brought to camp with you. If you have questions, please call the camp office at (207) 377-2924 or email mechuwana@fairpoint.net. Contact the camp office if you need more copies of the brochure mailed to you. You can email the office at mechuwana@fairpoint.net or call (207) 377-2924. See you this summer! Mechuwana Camperships
We believe that no camper should be denied the opportunity to attend Mechuwana for financial reasons. Over the years, local churches have worked hard to provide financial assistance for their campers. Mechuwana will support that effort with camperships to those families in financial need.
If you are in need of assistance in sending someone to Mechuwana, please contact the camp office and ask for a scholarship application. Summer Food Program
The application for free and reduced school meals has been vital to Mechuwana. We started this program eleven years ago as an experiment; since then we have received more than $111,233.00. This money goes directly into our food operations budget. It has been one of the key programs that has enabled us to keep the cost of camp down.
The forms are confidential and the information will only be used to determine eligibility. No one at camp will know who is elegible and who is not. It is important that everyone complete this form. Standards set for summer camps are lower than public schools so many who do not qualify at school will qualify here. You can find the form in the back of the camp brochure. Thank you so much for taking the time to complete this form. As you can see it has made a great financial difference. Sincerely,
Norman R. Thombs, Director | Summer 2012 Schedule

More than 850 campers, 200 adult volunteers, and 100 youth leaders took part in our summer program. We would like to thank everyone for making this ministry at Mechuwana possible. Interested in volunteering at camp during the summer? Summer camps would not be possible without a dedicated group of volunteers. If you think you would like to volunteer your time as a counselor or maintenance worker, please contact the camp office. Parents and guardians who volunteer get a $75 credit toward the price of their child's camp. If you are a youth who is in grades 8-12 and you would like to be a Youth Leader this summer, you must attend a training session this spring. Download your registration form here.
