Camp Mechuwana runs a camping program from mid-June through mid-August. We have over 40 different weekly camps including day camp, trip and travel camps, canoe camps, swim camps, music and theatre camps, special needs camps, creative arts camp and much, much more. Summer camp brochures are available every January. Or click here for more summer camp info.

Over the years, many local, district and conference United Methodist church groups have used Mechuwana for retreats and other programs. They have found our unique setting a perfect place to work, reflect, relax and celebrate.

The camp is also available for other groups in the spring, fall and winter. Groups must be "not for profit" organizations and abide by the rules and policies of the camp.

How to register: Reserving space at Mechuwana must be done through the camp director, Norman Thombs. Details about menus, sleeping arrangements, and activities can be worked out at that time. After talking with Norman, a reservation contract will be sent to you.

Cost: Cost will vary with the number of persons in your group and the services Mechuwana provides (food, lifeguards, etc.). We prefer to provide all the meals for the group. Special menus can be arranged for your event. The cost per person will be provided to you prior to your event.

The following areas of camp are available on a seasonal basis
from the first of May through the end of October:

Lakefront Cabins: There are nine cabins in this area that sleep an average of 9 people each. The cabins are simple structures with electricity and bunk beds. They share a centrally located bathroom and shower house. Also in this area is the Dean's Cabin, which sleeps 5 people and is handicapped accessible with its own shower and bathroom.

Lower Camp Cabins: These are six large cabins which sleep a total of 24 people and are located in a private area away from the lakefront cabins. They have separate sleeping rooms and share a central bathroom and showers.

Village Cabin Area: This area consists of 6 cabins sleeping a total of 48 people in simple cabins with electricity and bunk beds. This area also has a Director's Cabin with its own bathroom and shower. Attached to this cabin is the Rec Building that holds 50+ people as a general meeting place.

Located close to the Village is the KK Village that provides 4 additional simple cabins that accommodate a total of 30 people. They share a centrally located bathroom and shower house. Also in the area is the Dean's Cabin that sleeps 5 and has its own bathroom and shower.

The Day Camp Building: Located in the village area, this building can be used as a meeting place or program building. It can hold 50 people and has its own bathroom.

Trip Base: This area has three cabins that sleep a total of 20 people. It has a bathroom and a shower.

Winter Sleeping Areas:

Gus Building: This building sleeps 25 people year-round. It has 4 bathrooms; 2 of these have showers. Downstairs there are 4 rooms that sleep 3-4 people each, and a sleeping loft that will sleep 12 or more.

Missions Building: This building sleeps 30 people on two floors. It has bathroom and shower facilities as well as a central meeting place and full kitchen.

Dining Commons: Our year-round dining hall has space to serve 200+ people. This large room can be divided for groups to run programs. The building has two single rooms in the back that many groups use for their program leaders or speakers.

Other Buildings Available from May through October:

The Lodge: This historic building was built in the 1800's and is located in the lower camp. The centerpiece of the building is a large fieldstone fireplace located in a room that holds 60 people. It also features a wrap-around porch with spectacular views of the lake. The Lodge also has a small kitchen.

Asbury Chapel: The chapel offers a large, open gathering space. With seating for over 200 people, this building is used for worship, meetings and theatrical performances. Asbury Chapel is located near the lakefront cabins and the Lodge.

Food Service:

Mechuwana offers complete food service providing meals and snacks. Groups are encouraged to submit menu requests in advance of their arrival.

Recreational Activities:

Mechuwana is located on 200 acres of forestland. Bordering Lower Narrows Pond and Lake Annabessacook, this peaceful setting offers nature trails, a sandy swimming area, and boat docks. Volleyball courts and basketball hoops are available as well as a large playing field with soccer goals. During the winter months, the camp offers a beautiful setting for cross country skiing, snow shoeing, skating and ice fishing.
