Worship in Nature
Grove Chapel
Over the years, many local, district and conference United Methodist church groups have used Mechuwana for retreats and other programs. They have found our unique setting a perfect place to work, reflect, relax and celebrate.

The camp is also available for other groups in the spring, fall and winter. Groups must be "not for profit" organizations and abide by the rules and policies of the camp.

How to register: Reserving space at Mechuwana must be done through the camp office. Details about menus, sleeping arrangements, and activities can be worked out at that time. After talking with the camp, a reservation contract will be sent to you.

Price: Price will vary with the number of persons in your group and the services Mechuwana provides (food, lifeguards, etc.). The cost per person will be provided to you prior to your event.

Food Service
Mechuwana offers complete food service providing meals and snacks. Groups are encouraged to submit menu requests in advance of their arrival. We prefer to provide all the meals for the group. Special menus can be arranged for your event.

Recreational Activities
Mechuwana is located on 230 acres of forestland. Bordering Lower Narrows Pond and Lake Annabessacook, this peaceful setting offers nature trails, a sandy swimming area, and a boat dock with canoes and paddleboats. Basketball courts are available as well as a large playing field with soccer goals. During the winter months, the camp offers a beautiful setting for cross country skiing, snow shoeing, skating, and ice fishing.

Summer Sleeping Areas:
The following areas of camp are available on a seasonal basis from the first of May through the end of October:

Lakefront Cabins
There are nine cabins in this area that sleep an average of 9 people each. The cabins are simple structures with electricity and bunk beds. They share a centrally located bathroom and shower house. Also in this area is the Dean's Cabin, which sleeps 5 people and is handicapped accessible with its own shower and bathroom. Located nearby are the Lodge and Asbury theater, listed below.

Lower Camp Cabins
These are nine cabins which sleep a total of 30 people and are located in a private area away from the lakefront cabins. They have separate sleeping rooms and share a central bathroom and showers.

Village Cabin Area
This area consists of 8 cabins sleeping a total of 60 people in simple cabins with electricity and bunk beds. This area also has a Director's Cabin with its own bathroom and shower. Attached to this cabin is the Rec Building that holds 50+ people as a general meeting place.

Located close to the Village is the KK Village that provides six additional simple cabins that accommodate a total of 36 people. They share a centrally located bathroom and shower house. Also in the area is the Dean's Cabin that sleeps 5 and has its own bathroom and shower.

The Day Camp Building
Located in back of the village area, this building can be used as a meeting place or program building. It can hold 50 people and has its own bathroom.

Sports Village
This area has five cabins that sleep a total of 40 people and then a deans cabin which will sleep another two and has a meeting area. There are bathrooms and showers on site.

Outpost
The Outpost area consists of six lean-to's, buildings with three walls and a tarp for the fourth wall. Each lean to will sleep one to two people. The lean to's are empty, so sleeping mats are necessary. Primarily used for wilderness camps, Outpost is located down a trail next to the swimming area.

Other buildings available from May through October:

The Lodge
This historic building was built in the 1800's and is located in the lower camp,. The centerpiece of the building is a large fieldstone fireplace located in a room that holds 60 people. It also features a wrap-around porch with spectacular views of the lake. The Lodge also has a small kitchen.

Asbury Theater
Asbury theater, formerly Asbury Chapel, offers a large, open gathering space. With seating for over 200 people, this building is used for worship, meetings and theatrical performances. The theater has it's own bathrooms located nearby. Asbury Theater is located near the lakefront cabins and the Lodge.
